• The X Mature Gamers Mission Statement

XMG is a community founded on the principal that online gaming is more enjoyable when played in an environment of personal respect regardless of age, sex or gaming ability and that gamers adhering to this principal can utilize online gaming as a foundation for lasting friendships.

• Who can join XMG?

The only requirement is that a member be at least 18 years old and want to play and discuss video games in a respectful environment. In the past, XMG members had joined through word of mouth, friends of friends which has helped XMG stay a very close group of gamers, some have even become close friends IRL.

• The History of XMG

XMG debuted as a thread at TeamXbox in September 2002 to gather members for Xbox Mature Gamers. A Yahoo Group was sooon formed and used for collaboration. As the group gathered more members it eventually moved to hosting their own website and forums.

Initially the membership was capped at 200 and new members had to be sponsored by an existing member which kept XMG a very close group of players. Years later the membership cap was removed, and eventually the sponsorship was no longer required.

XMG started as an Xbox focussed community but its now become very open to all forms of gaming and gaming platform discussions on the Forums.
